Ventilation as a building service is becoming increasingly important in new homes. Today, it is linked to energy efficiency, comfort, overheating, acoustics, air quality and many more planning restrictions and requirements.  Whilst not yet a controlled service, the impact of getting ventilation wrong can be costly.

We have been working as a specialist ventilation contractor since 2014 and have completed in excess of 10,000 installs of mechanical ventilation systems including Heat Recovery and MEV.  With more complex requirements, we have been involved in the design, specification, install and commissioning of many projects  and here are a few of the large scale developments HRV have been involved in;

Royal Wharf

Royal Wharf, on the former site of Minoco Wharf on the north bank of the River Thames, is a residential and commercial development in Newham,London located near the Thames Barrier, and close to both West Silvertown and Pontoon Dock DLR stations.

  • Ballymore – Main Contractor/Developer
  • Parker Bromley – Main M&E Contractor

During Phase 1 of Royal Wharf we supplied, installed and commissioned a total of 800 MEV Ventilation Systems (Central Extract) for a range of 1, 2, 3 bedroom apartments.

This large scale and fast paced build programme needed extensive planning, attention to detail and excellent communication throughout the project as we had a number of teams working simultaneously.  Everything was managed through our bespoke project management and customer portal tool – my.HRV.  A project of this size can generate in excess of 3000 documents including individual plot designs, method statements,  first and second fix certificates and the final Domestic Ventilation Compliance certificates for Building Control.

Green Park Village

Perfectly placed, minutes from central Reading, Green Park Village offers a stunning collection of New England inspired houses and apartments. Set beside a beautiful lake, the development is a mix of 1, 2, and 3 bedroom units.

  • Berkeley Homes – Developer
  • Home Installations – Main M&E Contractor

At Green Park Village we were responsible for the delivery of both residential and commercial ventilation strategies across the site.  This included the supply, install, and commissioning of 225 Central Extract Systems (MEV) in addition to the ventilation provision for a salon, shop, kitchen and additional commercial premises.

West Hendon

Forming part of the regeneration of West Hendon, this development is part of the plan to create 2,000 new homes, including 25% affordable homes. Set within 170 hectares of beautiful green surroundings overlooking the Welsh Harp reservoir and just 17 minutes to Kings Cross from Hendon train station.

  • Barratt Homes London in partnership with  London Borough of Barnet and Barnet Homes – Developer
  • Home Installations – Main M&E Contractor

At West Hendon we were responsible for delivering the ventilation provision in the new build apartments.  We supplied, installed and commissioned a total of 274 MVHR systems (mechanical ventilation with heat recovery) as well as managing our teams, all required documentation and final sign off through my.HRV, our project management and customer portal.

Xerox Site Re-development

Located at Welwyn Garden City and on the old Xerox site, this development consists 1, 2, and 3 bedroom apartments with a plan to deliver over 500 properties.

  • Chase New Homes – Developer
  • Home Installations – M&E Contractor

At the Xerox development site we were involved in both change of use and new build plots.  We advised on ventilation strategy including various methodologies in addition to designing a bespoke insulated duct component to ensure regulatory compliance and in keeping with the the aesthetic finish of the original building, – a requirement of the architects.

In total, a mix of 364 MEV (Central Extract Units) and MVHR (Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery) where supplied, installed and commissioned on this site.
